I am new here

What do I do next?

Today I downloaded and installed

spacedesk_driver_Win_10_64_v0969_BETA

on my primary machine.

I next downloaded and installed

spacedeskWindowsVIEWER_v0928_BETA

on a windows 8 machine.

The two PCs are connected by Ethernet cable.

I only have one screen.

The secondary machine has no internet.

I find the instructions in the instruction manual too complicated to follow.

Please what do I need to do now to access the secondary machine from the primary machine?

Hi @iain,
To connect over a crossover ethernet cable, you have to configure first the IP address on ethernet adapters on both sides.

On your primary machine:
- run ncpa.cpl
- find Ethernet network, right-click -> Properties
- on the list box, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), then click "Properties" below
- click "Use the following IP address:"
Assign a hard coded IP address (e.g. IP address: 192.168.1.5), then assign subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. Then click OK.

Do the same steps on Windows 8 machine, but this time with different IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.4), then the same subnet mask (255.255.255.0).

Thank you Lea,

I suspect that SpaceDesk is working but where is the button/icon on which to click to access the secondary machine.

When I click on SpaceDesk under programmes I get as the attached screenshot

Hi @iain,

It is the secondary machine with windows viewer app that will initiate the spacedesk connection.

You have to run the spacedesk Windows Viewer app on your secondary machine.
The viewer app should discover your primary machine and you just click it to connect.

For more details, please check our user manual on how to operate spacedesk.

Hi @iain,
You can download the spacedesk Winodws Viewer app v0.9.28 form our website https://spacedesk.net/.
Go to download section, underneath "SPACEDESK VIEWER SOFTWARE FOR SECONDARY MACHINE (CLIENT)",
there's a download button for Windows (32-bit/64bit) (left side) or you can also try our current prototype version of UWP Windows Viewer from Microsoft App store (the download button on the right side).
