Viewer for Desktops and screen resolutions

Hi,

I operate the SpaceDesk Viewer on mobile and desktop devices. On a mobile OS (Android and iOS) the screen resolution is straight forward: native or a alternative one and the app only has to take in a account a possible rotation. On a desktop-OS (Linux, Windows, osX (Mac) or HTML5) it is a different story. You can operate the viewer in fullscreen or as a window. In Fullscreen case it is the same as with mobile OS.

The trouble starts in window mode.

  1. You have only choice between native or a preset fixed resolution.
  2. Native resolution doesn't fit obviously: Taskbar and window-elements consuming space…
  3. Change of the alternative resolution is possible, but only via the arrow buttons attached to the value boxes. Manual input of numbers is turned of.
  4. Change of the window size is not considered.
  5. All made more difficult because a changing of the resolution settings is in connected mode not possible.

The issues can solved with two solutuions:

  1. Allow a direct input of numbers for the alternative screen resolution.
  2. Allow resolution change while viewer is connected.
  3. Adding as 3rd option a automated screen adjusting based on the inner dimensions of the display.
  4. Alternative to option 3 give the possibility to setup a list of resolutions, so the user self can select the best resolution via display settings of windows.

Please let me know about your thoughts in this matter.

Thanks and cheers.

Thank you for your detailed input.
screen resolution list are also available in our Windows and HTML5 viewer, you just have to click a specific button for the list box to appear.
- On windows viewer, please go to Settings -> Resolutions... -> Other Screen Resolution then click the arrow down button on the left side of the resolution box
- on HTML5 viewer, please go to  Advanced Performance Settings -> Screen Resolutions, below the "Use Custom Resolution (for Duplication)" check box, click the "Resolutions..." link.
Please refer to the screenshot attached for assistance.

HI Lea,

thanks for your reply. And yes, I've overseen this button because its humble appearance.

But now I checked it and it is even worse… My Windows 10 Tablet needs a resolution correction of 150 %. So the drop down box is cutting of the resolution, so you don't know, what do you click…

Well, and the next 2 posts are demonstrating the above descriped "compression"-problem. The upper taskbar is viewer-computer.

here the variant, where the native screen resolution is squeezed into the smaller screen area because the viewers computer taskbar and the window elements of the viewer itself

Thank you very much for the feedback.
We were able to reproduce the cut off resolution list with 150% scaling.
Fix for this issue will be included in the next version release.

Also switching your viewer to full screen mode using native resolution will also fix the squeezed screen.
You can still check/enable both native and other screen resolution (with your "corrected resolution" value).
You can easily switch to the "corrected resolution" when you choose to switch from full screen to maximize mode using display settings in your primary machine so that you don't have to disconnect the viewer to change the resolution settings and reconnect again.

We have released a new spacedesk Windows viewer (v0.9.17) in our website.
This new version includes the bug fix for the cut off screen resolution list when scaling is more than 100%.
Please try it together with our most recent spacedesk Driver version 0.9.19.
