I want to use my very old 2007/2008 iMac as a second screen with spacedesk, mijn laptop is windows 10. i want to connect both with a cable; the imac has mini-DVI output; and usb 2.0 connections and LAN. how should i do this? I think LAN is the best option here, but i dont know how to set up the connection from the imac to laptop; html didnt work by the way

Please try the "Connect using an Ethernet cable" instructions here: https://support.apple.com/en-ph/guide/mac-help/mchlp1660/mac.
Which web browser did you try to load the spacedesk HTML5 Viewer?
Can you maybe try other web browser on your iMac?
By the way, spacedesk only supports 1 HTML5 Viewer connection at a time.
Did you maybe have other HTML5 Viewer connected from other device?

Hi,

My primary machine is a Windows 10 Laptop.

I would like to extend my screen to an iMac. The browser version works on my iMac, but is very laggy even when connected through a LAN cable directly to my main machine.

On the contrary, the same works on my Android Phone over Wifi, using the playstore app and works without any lags at all.

Is this lag caused because its working on a browser? Or there could be a different issue?

Laptop specs:
i7 6th gen, GTX 970m, 16 GB RAm

iMac specs:
Model late 2009
1080p display, Core 2 Duo, 8 GB Ram, GeForce 9400 256 MB

Even though the iMac is old, it runs very well and has no issues on 1080p video playback

Also would like to know if there are any plans to release a macOS client?

Regards,
Adesh

Hi @adesh31,
Connection via HTML5 VIEWER is much slower than our native apps on Android/iOS/Windows.
This is due to technical limitation of HTML5/Javascript.

Hello Lea,

Thank you for your response.

Any idea when the macOS client will be made available?

There are a lot of people including me who want to use their iMacs as secondary display. Me personally would pay for such a software which can turn my iMac into a extended display.

Hi @adesh31,
MacOS client will probably available in the next few months - no specific date yet.
We are currently having issues on store submission.
We will get back to you as soon as we released it on the store.
Or maybe we can send a test version for you to try, but we still have to check. We will contact you via email if there's an available working test version.

Thank you for the update.
If you can provide the test version, I would be happy to test it out and provide any necessary feedback.

Regards,
Adesh

Hi @adesh31 and @atiensivu

Unfortunately, we cannot send you a test version of MacOS viewer app at the moment.
It does not work with the latest MacOS version.
We will get back to you as soon as we have any news with MacOS viewer app.
For now, please continue to use our HTML5 Viewer on your MacOS machine.

OK. Let me know. I know recent changes have made things much more difficult for app devs for apps like this, and it gets worse with the changes in MacOS 11. I'm running the dev beta for MacOS 11 and many kexts and other plugins will need to be redone, unfortunately.
