Hello everybody,

I have the following problem

When i manually add an exception rule for spacedeskService.exe for Private and Public in my firewall settings i have a good connection to my IPAD.
But after a while the spacedeskService.exe disappears from the firewall and I have no connection again. Unfortunately, I don't know what it could be. Can it disappear after Windows Update?

I have to add the spacedeskService.exe after a while to establish a connection again. And so on !
How can I make the setting permanent without it disappearing?

I hope you can help me
Many Thanks.

Hi @inexo,

Can you specify what kind of Windows update?
Is it Windows 7/8.1 to Windows 10 update?
Or Windows 10 version update (e.g. v1909 to v20H2)?
Or various Windows Cumulative updates?

Hi,

Thanks for the quick writing. It is a Windows 10 computer and the standard Windows 10 version updates are regularly made on the PC. (currently Windows 10, version 2004) I don't know if the problem is with the Windows 10 version update, but what I found is that this spacedeskService.exe disappears from the firewall apps after a while and then I have no connection to the iPad again.

I have to add the spacedeskService.exe after a while to establish a connection again. And so on! What can be the problem that an App disappears from the Windows Firewall Apps?

I hope you can help me.

Thank you

Hi @inexo,
Thanks for the info.
We haven't experience such issue on our test machines, which we always update from time to time.
Are you using a third party firewall software? Or just the built-in Windows Firewall settings?
Is spacedeskService.exe is still on C:\Windows\system32 folder after the update?
Did you already try to repair spacedesk using the spacedesk MSI installer?

hi Lea,

We just using the built-in Windows Firewall settings.

The SpacedeskService.exe is still on C:\Windows\system32 folder after the update.

At the moment we dont try to repair spacedesk using the spacedesk MSI installer. But i can try it.

Further i will try "windows defender firewall with advanced security" => Inbound Rules

Maybe on this way my spacedeskService.exe will not disappear.

I keep you updated.

Thank you

Hi Lea,

it helped!

So far the "Spacedesk Service.exe" has not disappeared. I added the .exe via the windows defender firewall with advanced security => Inbound Rules

Thank you anyway!
