[Solved] [HELP] Mouse Gets Slower and slower... [HELP]

Dear fellow spacedesk user.

I literally bought a tablet because I knew about the existence of spacedesk, knowing I'd be able to use it as a second monitor... However, I stumbled upon an issue.

-Firstly, how to make the connection fast enough that I don't get pissed while writing my paper and the quality good enough that I can read through it...

That i tried solving by using usb thetering and usb-c to usb-c high-speed cable to do so... And although I still have some lag... it works okay.

-In order to get the mouse working smoothly, I set a lower resolution, which AT FIRST works flawlessly. However, as time passes, it gets slower and slower until it is just unusable...

does anyone have a solution for this?

any other tip to make the use of spacedesk smoother let me know.

thank you all!!!

Cheers

Hi @guaccioly,
Is your tablet Android?
If yes, can you try with lower image quality (~50%) + color depth(YUV420) + rendering color depth(16-bit RGB 565) + 60FPS?
These settings can be found in spacedesk Android Viewer settings -> Quality/Performance.

I did what you said and still have a constant decrease in framerate.

Any other solution?

Hi @guaccioly,
Is it only the mouse that's slowing down?
Or is it also when moving/dragging a window?

To further analyze this issue, we would like to request for diagnostic logs.
Please download the spacedesk diagnostic script here, then extract it.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/z8h5llgi8c2ig3g/2021_spacedeskDiagnosticTool.zip?dl=0

Please follow the steps below:
1. Connect the viewer app then wait for the issue to happen.

2. Once the viewer is slowing down, right-click the spacedeskDiagnosticTool.cmd then run as administrator.
This script will start a debug view app to capture spacedesk debug traces.

3. On step 5 it will prompt you to reproduce the issue (which is already happening, so try to move a mouse or window to reproduce the slow performance for 10-30 seconds), make sure to do this before pressing any key to continue.

4. After the script is done, a folder will be created on the same folder as the script file which contains various log files that we need for analysis.
Please right-click it -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file on your next reply.

Hi @guaccioly,

Could you please try to update your AMD graphics adapter?
You can download their latest driver from their website https://www.amd.com/en/support.

I am sorry but I guess I have to make a correction. I'd say the best way to describe the glitch is a "input delay" from the mouse, bot necessarily framerate. I have another log with more noticeable effect. please consider the end of the recording the most( after some time of use is when it starts to happen.

Hi @guaccioly,
Thanks for sending the recent diagnostic logs.
We' re currently checking it (especially the last part of the debugview logs).
We cannot find any reasonable spacedesk error trace "SE [xxx:xxx]..." that causes the slow performance, the error trace in the last part are usually the normal error trace.

Do you have other application running on our primary machine while you are simultaneously connected to spacedesk?
Can you also monitor the memory and CPU usage of spacedeskService via task manager while slow performance is happening. Maybe you can also check the other running processes or application that might have high CPU/Memory/network usage.

Dear Lea,

I have been using zoom on my primary monitor while connected, however cpu and memory usage seems to be not out of normal... I do not have a graphics card, but guess it isn't a performance issue itself. I can try to get more logs if you want, or either videos, but the truth is that after some time of use, the delay makes it difficult to use.

Hope you can find the answer, I'll be back with some extra logs today.

Cheers

Hi @guaccioly,
Thanks for the latest diagnostic logs.
How long before the delay happens?

Can you try with videowall mode enabled (but do not create a wall just extension client only)?
Or have you already tried it and get the same performance issue?

Hi @spacedesklea

I will try to use the videowall mode again, but I remember trying and not noting any difference.

It takes around 10-15 minutes so the delay gets intense, but it is gradual.

Will get back to you soon.

Cheers

Hello @spacedesklea,

I tried the videowall mode, however haven't got any good results. tried reseting my tablet in case it could be it but still got the lag after 15 minutes. Do you need logs?? because it is still the same issue...

Cheers

Hi @guaccioly,
thanks for trying it, and no need for new logs.
You network connection is USB tethering, right?
Can you check the network speed/bandwidth of your USB tethering network?

Hi @guaccioly,

Hey there @spacedesklea,

Will try it right now. I don't know how to check the network speed with the usb thereting, maybe an internet speedtest will do??

Anyway, will check the new driver.

Dear @spacedesklea,

I'm glad to say that I foung the issue. As I waas using a GSI ROM on my android, apparently that is the reason that my connection was slowing down. reverting back to stock rom solved the issue!!!!

thank you very much for your help, and I suggest to make this public for other people with this issue.

Cheers!
